In this post I’m going to write up a Tynt review. It’s a service I make use of on every website I build and I highly suggest looking into it yourself and see if it’s something you would like to add to your websites. When building out your blog or website, most people put a lot of sweat and tears into creating the content that goes into it. Or, they pay some out of pocket money to have it created for them. Either way, it’s costing you time and/or money so having someone come by and copy and paste your articles and content would be infuriating right? Well, it’s definitely difficult to straight stop people from doing this, so we’re going to use people’s content scraping to our advantage!
Tynt Publisher Tools, or Tynt, is a service used by some big names like G4 TV and Sports Illustrated to leverage their content. It’s a completely free service and quickly and easily plugs into your website via javascript code, just like adding Google Analytics for example. Inside there’s a couple settings that you can tweak that are fairly self-explanatory. I recommend leaving the address bar tracking alone because it changes your URLs to track things. The real meat is in the attribution settings and I recommend only changing the link to the Page and Title option.

How Tynt Works
When people go to your website and directly copy and paste your content, the Tynt script automatically throws your Page name as anchor text and URL in as a link! This also happens to automatic scrapers people use like WPRobot. So even though people are copying your stuff, at least you’re going to get a free backlink to your page wherever it’s copied to. You can login to the Tynt system and it will show you reports of how many times your content has been copied and how many backlinks you’ve gained as a result. It will also email you periodically with status reports.
Finally, the Tynt system will give you some basic analytics like what keywords are the most popular for bringing visitors to your website, which content is the most popular for being copied, and which social media channel is responsible for bringing you the most traffic.
This is a great service to leverage the nature of the web and gain free automatic backlinks! I highly recommend using it, and at the very least do yourself a favor and check it out.
